JESUS IS COMING SOON
Jesus said, “Occupy till I come” – Lk. 19:13. In I Thessalonians chapter 5, saints are given several exhortations of duties toward men and God in view of the coming of Christ. Three stood out to me that are Godward. Vs. 16-18, Rejoice evermore: Pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
We are to rejoice in hope of His appearance for us, unceasingly, tho’ He seems to tarry. Phil. 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Let nothing disturb “Christ in us the hope of glory” – Col. 1:27.
The trials are increasing, so we need to pray unceasingly. Jesus said, men ought always to pray – Lk. 18:1. Pray for one another; pray for the indifferent; pray for the unsaved. We certainly have plenty to pray about.
Whatever our situation, we are to give thanks to God for we know He doeth all things well. He has saved us and has revealed that His Son will return for us. Jesus words in Jn. 14:2-3, “I go to prepare a place for you…I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
His coming is near, perhaps nearer than we imagine, for in such an hour as ye think not He will come. Keep the faith, keep looking up, our blessed hope has a purifying effect, even as Christ is pure – I Jn. 3:3.
